Thanks to Dale and Cheryl Crabtree,  Rainbow Friends now has a brand new cattery to board up to 25 cats.  The new cat dwelling is called Athena’s Place in honor of a cat who recently passed on, and the funding for the supplies and materials was generously donated by Dale and Cheryl.

With the funding provided, Rainbow Friends supplied the labor through volunteer work headed by Larry and now 21 of the more than 200 cats living at the Sanctuary live in “new digs” while awaiting adoption!  The remaining cats are now a wee bit jealous and are wondering when they too will have new dwellings to move into???   Currently these cats are housed throughout the premises and  the need is very high for at least three more dwellings.

Rainbow Friends are currently looking for interested sponsors to either provide funding for the entire cattery, donate supplies or funding towards the purchase of any of the materials, or donate time and manpower to construct the building.

One cattery dwelling costs $3,500.  A breakout of the supplies needed is as follows:

6 pier blocks, 2 straps

2 4×4 8′

4 4×8 12′

18 2×6 12′ (joist)

9 4×8 5/8  plywood TG (flooring)

20 2×4 8′ (wall studs)

15 2×4 12′ (plate)

12 4×8 1/2 plywood CDX (walls)

4 2×8 12′ (rafter blocks)

8 2×8 20′ (rafters)

16 2×4 16′ (perlings)

11 x 20′ roofing sheets

roofing screws

1/2″ 4′x25′ hardware cloth (4 rolls)

paint for the building interior and exterior

vinyl flooring piece of 24′ x 12′
