If you would like to visit the Sanctuary, please call us
first to be sure your visit is scheduled at a good time for the animals. The best times are from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The Sanctuary is
open 7 days a week.
Directions to Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary:
From Hilo:
Take Highway 11 toward the Volcano.
After passing Kea`au, you will come to Kurtistown. On your left will be the Hara Store and a 76 gasoline station. Across the highway from the gasoline station is Huina Road. This is where the signal lights are now. Turn right on Huina Road.
A little less than a mile from the highway, you will come to Momona Road, a gravel road to the right. Turn right on Momona Road and follow that road until it ends. There will be a small sign saying 13 Mile Road. Turn left. The Sanctuary is the third house on the right. There is a sign at the gate for Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary.
If you are coming into Kurtistown from the South, you will turn left on Huina Road at the 76 station and then follow the directions above.
