All the little puppies that were rescued at the beginning of summer have now been adopted! We would like to say a big mahalo to all the families who welcomed Keo, Lena, Pepper, Bear, Kayla, Suki, and Kapena into their homes.
Happy Endings (24): Little Bonita Hit It Good

The Chihuahua-Terrier Mix Bonita spent only a few weeks at the sanctuary before she got adopted by Jay Jeffcoat and her family. Bonita will live inside a big house in Hilo with four adults, three children, one kitten and a cockatiel. There are also three mice and a terrarium outside. That means at any given time there will be someone around to spoil her, and boredom will never come up. Thank you Jay for making that possible for Bonita!
Happy Endings (22): Shannon Gets A Boyfriend

Shannon, the cute Blue Terrier Mix, has found herself a new boyfriend who is a strong young Lab. Her new owner, Jim Kuykendall, is providing them a lovely home in Volcano. Thank you Jim for giving Shannon a wonderful new life!
Happy Endings (21): Lehua Joins Babe

Debbie Uchida who had previously adopted Babe, came back to the sanctuary for her second dog: Lehua. Lehua and Babe will walk with Debbie 2 1/2 miles every day. They live inside the house, but have a doggie door to reach the fenced yard whenever they please to do so. What a life! Thank you Debbie for taking on another friend for life!
Happy Endings (13): Winnifred Loves Her New Home
May 20th
Winnifred, the Rottweiler Mix, was adopted by Denise Laitinen some time ago, and we got an update from her new family: “Winnifred loves her three new dog brothers. It is very cute to see her lying next to Clancy (Pitbull) with their paws intertwined or playing with their toys. They love to play although the amount of play has to be limited due to the heartworm treatment. She also gets along with Danny (German Shepherd) and she licks Declan’s face. She loves her daily walks and she would eat an entire rawhide if she was let.
Happy Endings (19): Cocoa And Buddy Got Adopted By Cocoa’s Sponsor
May 7th
Cocoa’s sponsor Dawn just had to get a house before she could adopt her sponsored pet. Once this was taken care of, she decided to adopt Buddy as well and so the two of them are going to move to Volcano. And, on top of that, Dawn also adopted Nala, a kitten, to make the family complete. Thank you so much, Dawn.
Happy Endings (18): Jenny Found A Forever Home
May 4th
Jenny, the skinny dog who came to the sanctuary with practically no fur due to scabies, did a great recovery over the months and was now taken to her forever home. Marysue and Bob with son Ethan Joyce from Paauilo made it possible. After just two days they said Jenny is the best housedog they ever had. Here is what they wrote: “The first 24 hours of Jenny’s transition has been much smoother than expected. We were worried the car ride might be too much – she was asleep by Hilo.
