spay/neuter clinic for dogs

Another successful clinic was held on Sunday January 22nd 2012, with 21 dogs being spayed or neutered.

Thanks to all the responsible pet owners helping to reduce the number of unwanted animals on this island.

A big thank you to Dr Hatt and all the volunteers who worked so hard on a very busy day.

Donate to Rainbow Friends by recycling

Now you can help Rainbow Friends when you recycle  -  when you redeem your HI5 containers (glass, aluminum, plastic etc) at redemption centers across the Big Island.

Just tell the friendly staff at Business Services Hawaii that you wish the money to be donated to Rainbow Friends and they do the rest.  Its as simple as that!

Mahalo for your Aloha

We would like to thank everyone who so generously donated to Rainbow Friends during the recent Give Aloha promotion at Foodland and Sack N Save.

Every dollar donated in September 20 11 will be matched by Foodland and the Western Union Foundation.  We will receive a percentage of the available $300,000, depending on the percentage of total donations made throughout the campaign.  Final figures have not been received yet.

Mahalo for your generosity.

Last few days to Give Aloha!

If you make a donation to Rainbow Friends at any Foodland or Sack N Save store, using your Maika’i Card, then Foodland and the Western Union Foundation will make a matching gift, based on the percentage of all donations received. Donations can be large or small – if everyone rounded their grocery bill to the nearest dollar, then a lot of money could be raised  (rounding to the nearest 10 dollars would raise even more!) Remember, the more donations we receive, the larger our percentage of the $300,000 matching gift! But time is running out!  Please come to Foodland or More >

Hamilton

Mr Hamilton RIP

At the age of 17, the last 9 years of which were spent living at the Sanctuary, Hamilton, the pot-bellied / wild-boar pig has passed over the Rainbow Bridge.

He was quite a character. You would come across him foraging around in the undergrowth, especially underneath the cat-feeding table, as he loved to eat cat food.

You will be missed Hamilton.
