On Friday 8th October our friends at Panda Express, Hilo will donate 20% of their proceeds to Rainbow Friends. All you have to do is present one of our coupons when ordering your meal. That’s easy! This offer applies to sit-in and take-out meals, so please stop on by Panda Express between 11am and 8pm.
Coupons are available from Rainbow Friends at the following locations:
- Hilo - Island Naturals, Abundant Life, Dels Farm & Feed, Aloha Vet, East Hawaii Vet, Pet Hospital

Another Successful Spay/Neuter Clinic

The latest spay/neuter clinic was a great success. 38 cats and 15 dogs were spayed or neutered!
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out and to Dr. Hatt and Kelly! Also thanks to Leilani Estates management for the use of their facility!

Will someone play with me? My name is Maggie and I just love toys. I used to live with a family but the ‘alpha’ female there did not like me very much so I have ended up living at Rainbow Friends. While they are very good to me here I would rather have my own home again with people who have lots of time to play with me. Could that be you?
Fundraiser Outside Walmart, Hilo

On Sat 4th September 2010, from 8 am to 4 pm, Jayne Florina will have a food drive and fundraiser in front of Walmart, Hilo. There will be delicious cinnamon bread and other handmade items, such as jewelery, for sale. People can donate pet food items as well. Please come and visit Jayne!
Snuggles is a foster mom too!

During our recent spay/neuter clinic a tiny kitten was brought in which, at approx 2 weeks old, was way too young to be neutered and should still have been with his mom. However mom was not around and so Snuggles came to the rescue. We tentatively introduced the new kitten to Snuggles and her family and right away she started licking and feeding him. A week later and the new arrival is quite at home with his new family.

This month we have not 1, but 5, adorable pets all looking to be adopted into loving homes. They are the beautiful kittens that were recently born to Snuggles the cat. When Snuggles was rescued she was very pregnant and the only safe place for her to give birth to five beautiful kittens was here at Rainbow Friends. In the first photograph they are only eight days old, their eyes were not long opened and they were starting to move around a little. Notice their beautiful eyebrows and soft fur.

August 2010: Snowy
Aug 4th
I am a beautiful snow white girl. When I arrived at the sanctuary I had lost a lot of my hair, but the folks here treated me for that and now I look really good. I would love to have a home of my own and am happy to share with other dogs, although I am a little fussy about who I decide to make friends with. Could I be a good fit with everyone in your family? I’m willing to try if you are!
